What is Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)

NPWT is an adjunctive treatment technique to promote wound healing. The use of negative pressure pumps, parafilms, negative pressure patches, and biocompatible pore materials (such as medical grade PU sponge) to create continuous or intermittent negative pressure in the wound area can make the wound uniformly receive negative pressure to shrink. At the same time, it plays a critical role in drainage, removing excess exudate and providing a humid environment for the healing of damaged tissue, reducing peri-wound tissue edema, and stimulating granulation tissue proliferation to accelerate the healing process.

Principles of Operation

The core principle is generating continuous or intermittent negative pressure locally on the wound surface. Key healing factors include:
